More VCA Albany Animal Hospital

We changed Vets to VCA Albany because VCA Oakland was completely inept at diagnosing what was wrong with our 5 year old cat.  We didn’t fare much better at VCA Albany.  Our cat was extremely sick and we were administering an IV to him every day to keep his temperature down.  Finally we brought him back in on a Thursday and left him there overnight, visiting him the next day.  His situation did not change and he was going to be there all weekend it seemed.  BIG MISTAKE.  He was being cared for by one person who comes in the evenings during the weekend, and we visited once a day during this period to see how he was doing.

During the weekends, the Doctors are on call only and do not actually come in unless notified.  Well, we got a call Monday afternoon that our cat had died.  We feel like there was neglect on part of the Doctor on call (Reed) and the staff.  Furthermore, we asked to see the records to see exactly when the cat had died, and when we came in to get them, they had “mysteriously” vanished.  So on top of bad communication and poor care, there was no record indicating everything that had been done to help the cat.  We feel like the cat was probably suffering, and should have been put down.  But no Doctor was around to make that call and the staff member did not do anything but come in and feed.

If you have a really sick animal, do not leave it with VCA overnight.  Take it to an Emergency facility.
